The research conducted by Professor Pedro Espadinha da Cruz, a researcher at UNIDEMI, has been highlighted on the international portal 3DPrintingIndustry.com, one of the world’s leading references in 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing.
The article, titled “A Fuzzy System to Measure Additive Manufacturing Maturity: A Case Study in the Automotive Industry“, proposes a decision support system based on fuzzy logic to assess the technological maturity level of organizations in adopting Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies, considering organizational, cultural, and technological dimensions.
The article was published in the journal Procedia Computer Science (Elsevier) and was presented at the International Conference on Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing, held in Prague from November 20 to 22, 2024.
This research builds upon two previously published studies, where different iterations of the maturity model were explored. The current article marks a significant step in consolidating the Fuzzy AM Maturity Model (Fuzzy AMMM), standing out for its flexibility and ability to capture the uncertainty and subjectivity involved in technological adoption.
Currently, the researcher is applying for funding to expand this model, aiming to support organizations.
