
At the invitation of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Brazil, researcher Susana Duarte visited the Department of Production Engineering from 7 to 17 June, with the aim of strengthening and expanding the scientific collaboration already established between the two institutions.
As part of this partnership, she has been conducting joint research with Professor Fabiane Letícia Lizarelli in the fields of Lean Management, Sustainabilit and Industry 4.0.
During her visit, she delivered the seminar “Sustainable and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems”, addressed to postgraduate students in the Production Engineering Programme and UFSCar faculty members.
The programme also included a series of working meetings and research sessions focused on the development of joint scientific projects and the identification of new opportunities for future collaboration.
One of the mission’s main outcomes was the development of a research project on Lean Six Sigma applied to the Circular Economy, further strengthening the partnership between the two universities and creating new opportunities to expand collaborative research and pursue international research funding.
