The seminar addressed one of the major challenges faced by Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organizations in the aviation sector: capacity planning. This process involves estimating future workload, determining the available workforce, and balancing the two. The session explored the different types of uncertainty that make this task complex, as well as possible approaches to manage these uncertainties effectively — from foreseeable risks to the so-called black swans.
We thank Professors Roberto Sala and Fabiana Pirola for their invitation and warm hospitality, which greatly contributed to the success of this academic event.
The University of Bergamo thus continues to establish itself as a space for reflection and debate on critical issues for the aviation industry and for operations management in contexts of high uncertainty.
