Dr. Alexandra Tenera appointed to lead international ISO working group on Project Management

Dr Alexandra Tenera, researcher at UNIDEMI, has been appointed to coordinate the new ISO Working Group WG 13 – International Organization for Standardization, taking on a central role in the development of the future international standard ISO 21514 on project management and governance systems.

The appointment, approved by 85% of the participating countries, marks an unprecedented milestone for Portugal, which is leading an international standardization group in this area for the first time. With a career dedicated to standardization and project management, Alexandra Tenera also serves as head of ONS APOGEP and former president of CT 175. 

This international recognition strengthens Portugal’s presence in global standardization processes, with a direct impact on the harmonization of practices among businesses, public administration, and international bodies. The Portuguese Institute for Quality (IPQ) welcomes this appointment, highlighting the value of national technical participation in the international arena. 

Alexandra Tenera also emphasizes the importance of scientific knowledge in driving global economic development and extends special thanks to UNIDEMI and NOVA FCT for their support, which made it possible to embrace this challenging opportunity. Thanks to this environment of excellence, Portugal now holds a leadership position in the standardization of Project Management.
