The PhD Examination in Mechanical Engineering of André Geraldes Mourato took place on 18 December at NOVA FCT.
The dissertation, entitled “A computational and deep learning framework for fluid-structure interaction in ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms”, was supervised by Prof. José Cardoso Xavier (NOVA FCT) and co-supervised by Prof. Moisés Gonçalves de Brito (NOVA FCT) and Prof. José Guerra Fragata (NOVA Medical School), focuses on the development of an innovative computational framework based on deep learning methods, applied to fluid–structure interaction in ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge in this interdisciplinary field bridging engineering and health sciences.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Virgílio Cruz Machado, Full Professor at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University of Lisbon.
