Kick-off Meeting of the SQUARES Project Held at the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT)

18.03.2025

The kick-off meeting of the project "Sustainability and Quality in Urban Mobility Plans" (SQUARES, 2023.14917.PEX) took place on February 26 at the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT)

This project is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology under the 2023 call for Exploratory Projects. It is being developed in partnership with IMT, under the supervision of the researcher André M. Carvalho, having officially started on February 17, 2025, and set to conclude in August 2026.

Sustainable urban mobility is a priority for the European Union, as reflected in the requirements for the creation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs). However, the complexity and diversity of contexts in which these plans are implemented make it difficult to compare them and assess their effectiveness at the European level. The SQUARES project aims to address this challenge by developing a quality and maturity assessment model for SUMPs, fostering standardization and comparability among them.
